We need to advise that we are expecting to experience some delays to our imports throughout the early part of 2024.

As part of the ongoing conflict in the Suez region, recent attacks on both naval and commercial vessels in the Red Sea have resulted in container ships being rerouted around southern Africa to avoid the Suez Canal.

Of course, this has resulted in longer transit times and will impact ocean cargo (booked via the Suez Canal) in several ways – chief among them, mileage. The impact of re-routing will add around 3.5k nautical miles to each vessels’ journey. The effect on transit times will be heavy delays of between 7-14 days.

Our freight partners are keenly monitoring the situation and are committed to keeping us up to date as the situation develops and we are working closely with them to determine the best way forward to minimise the impact on your business.
