These safety valves are designed to be fitted close to the pump, in-line in the fuel delivery hose, between the nozzle and the pump – see diagram. Whilst re-fuelling, if a driver leaves the nozzle in the filler neck of the vehicle and drives away, the valve will snap into two parts and both parts will shut off, keeping the fuel contained and reducing spillage to a minimum (cannot be re-used after deployment).
